POEM - MORNING WALK AT DAWN

Powdery flap of pigeons wings
Misty breath of woodland things
Openings manifesting before my eyes
Tallest thistles and damsel flies
Buttercups and ox-eye daisy
Long thin grasses, vetches all hazy
Dampness of dew seeping through my clothes
Cloth clinging and heavy, soaked to the skin
Will the woodland let me in?
Shrubby things cross my path
Nettles chin high, thistledown and flowers
Sky splitting open dubiously
Chinks of light creeping slowly
Like a rip, the sky is open!
