WILLIAM WORDSWORTH - Daffodils

Posted on Feb 3rd, 2009 by Taikunping : inner fire Taikunping

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed-and gazed-but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

William Wordsworth

while out walking at the weekend I saw a clump of daffodils, no flowers as yet, but it was a sign spring is coming....

I had to look up jocund…  Stunning picture and joyful poem!  Now I wish I had planted some daffodils this fall, though they don’t bloom here until late April.  At the end of February we get tiny little white snowdrops.

I believe the yellow bulbs such as daffodils open us up to the joy of springtime, they are here to cheer us after the dull winter months.  They put the sunshine back into our lives and act like a tonic on the solar plexus (sun light chakra - yellow energy) - a bringer of joy and physical energy - a tonic for our liver and gall bladder meridians!!
Thanks for visiting the daffodil blog Mila and Barbara - have a sunshine filled day - love Tai x
